St. Mary Catholic Church
PASTORAL COUNCIL
The Pastoral Council has been formed to pray, to
plan, to propose and to promote our common vision and purpose: to
proclaim Christ to the world around us through the ministries of
Word, Worship, and Service. The Pastoral Council is a group of people
who together represent the parish and plan and guide its growth. The
members of the council work through long range planning, setting of
priorities and the implementation of programs through the six
ministries.
The Pastoral Council is comprised of twelve
elected parishioners, chairpersons of the six ministries, the pastor,
the religious education director and any special appointees by the
pastor (such as Trustees, Central College students). All parishioners
are encouraged to participate in some aspect of the various
ministries.
- MINISTRIES OF CHURCH LIFE - develop stronger
bonds within the parish, deanery, and diocese, by promoting
communication and community.
- MINISTRY OF LITURGY - responsible for
nurturing the faith of parishioners and for planning the prayer
life of the parish.
- MINISTRY OF FAITH FORMATION - transmits the
Good News of Jesus Christ to the various members of the Catholic
Community.
- MINISTRY OF SOCIAL ACTION - to infuse the
Spirit of Christ into the laws, attitudes and morals of the
community.
- MINISTRY OF FAMILY LIFE - through programs to
help support and deepen the love and understanding between
spouses, parents and children, engaged couples and to foster a
clearer vision of family life as a relationship with
Christ.
- MINISTRY OF FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION -
responsible for assuring the necessary resources that will enable
the parish to carry on the work of Christ.
